A Snowy Trip to Yosemite

Back in January of 2008, I took Amanda up to Yosemite for the day. I was a beautiful day, but it was cold and Yosemite Valley was covered in snow. If you ever get a chance, get up to Yosemite on a snow-covered day... it's just spectacular!

On the way in, our first stop was at Wawona...

We made a stop at Tunnel View, which is a terrific spot to take pictures.

We parked the car near the Village Store and decided to spend the rest of the day getting around on the terrific shuttle bus service they have or on foot.

We made our way to the Visitor Center where Amanda met John Muir...
and checked out a Native American building...

Being eight years old at the time, Amanda decided to play in the snow anytime she could... even though I warned her about getting too wet and too cold before we did everything we wanted to do. So, she try to slide down any little hill or incline we found.
She stopped to build a little snow man...

I finally got her going and we decided to take a walk across the Valley floor. Yosemite Valley is one of the most spectacular and beautiful places in the world, but when you add a layer of pure white to it, it is even more amazing.

We ran into some deer...

and we found a terrific meadow to walk across...

Well, it was terrific until Amanda's boots became filled with cold snow...
and we had to bow out of the Ranger walk we were planning on going on. So, back on the shuttle bus to the car, where we got the heat going to thaw out those frozen feet and toes.

On the way out of the Valley, we saw some more wildlife...

It was a fun day, except for having to cut it short to thaw out Amanda's feet!
